Executive Director- Mrs. Laura Kuester M.S., LPC
Mrs. Kuester graduated from Northeastern State University with a bachelors’ degree and went on to Missouri State University to get her Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology. Mrs. Kuester joined Help In Crisis in August of 2017. She is a licensed professional counselor and has worked in a variety of settings in the mental health field for the last 20 years. She has specialties in relationship counseling and treating various mental health disorders. Mrs. Kuester is passionate about serving victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. She has several years of non- profit service experience. She served as the President of the Coweta Dugout Club for 3 years and is the co- founder of Olivia’s Hope, an organization that serves children in crisis. She has been married to her husband, Brian Kuester, for 23 years and has three children. Mrs. Kuester enjoys public speaking, reading, writing, spending time with her family and traveling. She currently serves as the President of The Oklahoma Coalition for Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Advisory Board. She is active in her church and has served as a youth group leader for 5 years.
Assistant Director of Shelter Operations- Mrs. Roberta “Bobbie” Smith
Mrs. Smith graduated from Northeastern State University with a bachelors in Psychology and a business minor in 2010. She is married with three children with her oldest child currently serving in the Air Force, her middle child about to start college and her youngest in eighth grade. Mrs. Smith began working at Help In crisis May 2011. She has been the Assistant Director of Shelter Operations since July 2015. Her previous positions at Help In Crisis include Family Advocate/Forensic Interviewer and Encore Manager. She has been a certified Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Advocate since 2011. Her hobbies include working for Pecan Creek Winery conducting wine tastings at events, semi -professional photography, mead making, reading, kayaking, traveling and definitely thrift store shopping.
Assistant Director of Administration- Mrs. Cynthia “Cindy” Burnett
Mrs. Burnett graduated from Northeastern State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. She is married to her husband of 45 years, Bob Burnett and they have three grown children and four grandchildren. A transplanted Texan, Mrs. Burnett has been with Help-In- Crisis as Grants Administrator since 1996. Cindy has been a domestic violence victim advocate and Rape Responder for twenty-two years. She has completed over 600 hours specialized training in sexual assault and domestic violence services and received the “Direct Service Award” from the Oklahoma State Coalition Against Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault. Over the years, Mrs. Burnett has played an integral role in organizing and promoting a myriad of fund raising activities and events for Help-In-Crisis. Cindy enjoys family activities and camping, church, motorcycling, cooking, dancing, laughing, being part of a successful team, and finding a bargain.
